San Francisco Tourist

My layover in San Francisco was just what I needed. One afternoon really can “reset” your spirit. Although I was there on a Sunday which is very crowded and touristy (I guess I was one of them), it was a delight. I went for a walk with a friend from our hotel on Union Square to the Embarcadero and then left to Fisherman’s Wharf.
This walk will take you directly past Pier 39 and a view of the sea lions. Here is a link to a “Sea Lion Cam” so that you can view them live from the comfort of home
We then went to a fabulous lunch at the Franciscan on Fisherman’s Wharf. It may be considered by some to be a tourist trap, but I enjoyed my Dungeness Crab Caesar Salad and two glasses of Sirah like none other.
Then there was a quick trip to Boudin Bakery to see that famous San Francisco Sourdough being baked. I had already inhaled a loaf at the Franciscan Restaurant with another crabmeat cocktail I purchased at the wharf, so I was already stuffed. Our afternoon walk was about 4 miles, so once I made it back to the hotel, I was out!

That was a fun trip. I am glad you had a great time. Those meals sound great and it does not take long to inhale the sourdough bread!!! I remeber just riding the city bus from one end of SF to the other was interesting. I thought Alcatraz was one of the most interesing places in SF.
