Steven Slater, JetBlue’s most notorious ex-employee, wants to make one thing clear: he quit.  The former flight attendant landed in the national spotlight last month when he made a dramatic exit from a flight at JFK, telling passengers off over the loudspeaker and then sliding down the emergency chute.

Reports swirled on Saturday that the airline fired Slater following his outburst.

There won’t be a second exit for Steven Slater at jetBlue.

The airline Saturday canned the flight attendant who slid into folk-hero status last month when he jumped down a plane’s emergency chute with beers in hand after telling off passengers at Kennedy Airport.

Spokeswoman Jenny Dervin said yesterday that Slater, 38, of Queens, is no longer employed by the airline. She said the airline won’t release further details.
