BA LCY JFKThere is a new luxury shortcut to London now that British Airways has launched their new service using A318 aircraft outfitted with 32 lie-flat beds and the latest inflight communication system OnAir. This system allows passengers to use their mobile phones and laptops to access the internet and send and receive email and text messages.

The A318 will be taking off from an airport with a very short runway. London’s City Airport has a runway length of only 4,984 feet  in length compared to Washington National Airport’s main runway length of 6,869 ft., which  has always been considered very short. To deal with this, the plane will take off with less fuel to allow for a full load of customers but will have to make a stop in Shannon. To make a good thing out of this stop, all customers will be pre-cleared through US Customs; making their arrival into New York JFK much quicker.

BA A318

The one way fare is $3660.00

OK. My goal is to be able to afford this. I love the lie-flat seats, have been treated to them on American BOS-LAX flights. So many positions to cycle through, the entertainment value alone is worth a portion of the cost. Comfort, comfort, comfort.

It’s funny that on flights like this (pretty short for trans-atlantic) by the time you get comfortable it’s wheels down!
