According to today’s press release, Alaska Airlines is the latest domestic carrier to add Gogo Inflight Internet to its inflight services. Gogo was launched on six of its 737-800 aircraft today. Alaska joins Air Canada, American, AirTran, Delta, United, US Airways, and Virgin America in offering the service.
Alaska Airlines anticipates adding the service to their 737-800s and -900s by the end of summer, and their 737-400s
and -700s by the end of 2010.
Gogo Inflight has plans to add additional network coverage in Alaska to accommodate Alaska Airlines’ customers.
“Through July 31, our customers traveling on Wi-Fi-equipped planes will be able to try out the new Gogo service at no cost, courtesy of the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® Card,” said Joe Sprague, Alaska’s vice president of marketing.
Gogo customers will be able to access the Web using a laptop and or any other Wi-Fi capable device, such as an iPod Touch. Upon opening their browser, they will be directed to the Gogo Inflight page to create an account and sign up for a plan. Current plan offerings include a single flight session, 24-hour pass, monthly pass, as well as a monthly subscription. For more information about Gogo Inflight, visit their website.
