Here is the plan. Fly first class into LaGuardia Airport, be whisked by a waiting car into Manhattan for an early martini lunch with a pal or two and then sashay on-board an ultra-cool, StndAir seaplane headed nonstop to the Hamptons. Yes, darling it’s that easy– at least it’s going to be when you fly with me!

When I heard of this dream-of-an-airline, created by the owner of The Standard Hotel Group, I just had to figure out a way to get myself on-board and a reason to be flying to the Hamptons. Well, I have a conference in New York at the end of June and my spouse has just opened another one of his chic Palm Produce Resortwear Stores in Sag Harbor. Isn’t that reason enough?

Besides I need to be treated to a little bit of airborne decadence and StndAir makes sure that my needs will be met. Swedish fish washed down with André Balazs Rose and their own StndAir Spring Water sounds like just my kind of inflight snack.

Flight details from the StndAir Website:

• Flight time is 45 minutes.
• Flights depart from and land on Manhattan’s East River at the 23rd Street New York Skyports Marina, located at 2430 FDR Drive (dock is to the left of the Gulf Gas Station at 23rd Street and FDR) and arrive/depart from East Hampton Airport or Crescent Beach on Shelter Island.

I snagged a seat using their very snappy “Flight Board” which allows you to pre-reserve a seat starting for only $30. The price goes up as the plane fills up and as long as someone doesn’t come along and buy up all the seats at full price, you’re flying to the Hamptons!
