I’ve been hearing about all of the wonderful flights Jetiquette flyers have been having as they create onboard surprises by presenting “upgrade bags” to their crews upon boarding. These little tokens are not just about receiving better service, they are about making others feel good while enjoying the gift of giving. (True, but we all know the major motivator is that we just want to be treated like celebrities! Let’s be real!)

Watch me create my “Candyland Upgrade Bag”

While at DFW Terminal D, I decided to create an upgrade bag for the crew of my DFW to SFO flight. I finally faced the fact that my upgrade would not be going through and decided to make the best of it. My shopping spree took place at Natalie’s Candy Bar and turned out to be incredible fun.

Here are some of the goodies I placed in my “Candyland Upgrade Bag”:

• Gourmet lollipops in a variety of flavors including banana cream pie, pina colada and peach cobbler
• Yogurt pretzels
• See’s Almond Turtles
• Jelly Bellies

and tons more.

I had no idea that the gate agent would be so amazing I would need to slip her a little something! OMG, it became a true Oprah Winfrey moment as she practically broke down into tears! I love making people cry!

Seeing the crew smile was worth not getting my first class upgrade; well almost (here I go again with the PC stuff). All I can tell you is that we had an incredible flight and were asked by several passengers if we were celebrities and I can’t put a price tag on that kind of attention!
