Desert Pearl Inn, in Springdale, UT, is a fabulous 61-room boutique hotel that sits on the water’s edge right at the entrance to Zion National Park.  It’s one of the most luxurious national park-related hotels I’ve ever stayed in.

What we like about Desert Pearl Inn

The aged wood used throughout Desert Pearl Inn is old-growth Douglas fir and redwood reclaimed from the historic Lucin Cutoff railroad trestle that once spanned the north end of the Great Salt Lake.

Its proximity to Zion National Park, the gorgeous views of the park’s majestic rocks and the rambling Virgin River.  In fact, Zion’s bus system literally picks you up at the hotel and runs all day throughout the park.

Local restaurants are within walking distance.

Rooms are decorated in a modern-rustic decor and are quite unique.  In fact, they’re classy.  Everything was top-notch during our stay.

The daily routine.  An exhausting day of exploring Zion National Park followed by relaxing on the patio of our Desert Pearl Inn room with a glass of wine and a drop-dead gorgeous view.

Stunning riverside views.

Tips

Ask for a riverside ground-floor room.  All rooms have patios and balconies, but the ground-floor rooms sit on a large, soft grassy area.   It’s absolutely amazing to sit outside and gaze at the scenery.  It’ll take your breath away.

Stock up with food and beverages prior to your arrival.  All rooms feature a small kitchenette, complete with a little refrigerator, wet bar with sink, dishwasher, toaster oven and a microwave (yes, coffee maker, too).  Plates & utensils round-out the culinary nook.

Enjoy a  dreamy happy hour on your patio/balcony with a bottle of wine and gourmet snacks.  Relax in the Adirondack chairs with a lovely glass of wine; the soft grassy lawn is another great option.  The killer view is at its best during the hours when the sun is just beginning to set.  Most memorable!!!

Visit Bryce Canyon National Park during your stay.  Less than two hours away and very worth your time.  Meals are served at the Bryce Canyon Lodge.

Photographing the park is best during the early morning and late afternoon hours.  For more great tips on photographing the Southwest:  Photographing the Southwest by Laurent Martres.
