Stellar Stores for Pets!

Never underestimate the travel buying-power held by those of the pet persuasion. More and more hotels, restaurants and city halls are finding that being pet-friendly is not only great customer service; it’s also good for business. One innovative airport concessionaire is meeting the demands of sophisticated airborne animals by providing just the retail therapy any well-traveled pet and their companion would appreciate.

If you don’t own a dog, chances are you know someone who does. That’s why Dog‧E‧works, located at the international airports serving Tampa and Orlando is such a great idea for an airport shop; whether shopping for your own pet or as a gift for another’s.

Numbers don’t lie

More than 71 million American homes have a four-legged family member, and two-thirds of them vacation with their pets.  Do the math.  This ever-expanding market validates how poised Dog‧E‧works is for success.

A walk through one of the stores proves it.  Nothing cheesy or cheap was dug up during our February 2011 visit to TPA’s Dog‧E‧works.  Rather, a surprising variety of well-made clothing (the XS dress I bought my dog was under $30), including local college apparel, was displayed in a variety of sizes from XXS to, well, ginormous.

The doggie store is stocked with colorful quality toys, cleverly-packaged treats and an assortment of leashes and collars.  Feeling jealous of all the attention your dog is receiving?  Dog‧E‧works carries an assortment of items for you, from graphic t-shirts to tote bags to magnets and other fun items.

Who’s minding this store?

Dog·E·Works is more than just a canine cash cow; there’s mucho passion involved here. Stellar, the company that operates these doggy department stores, is run by someone with an abundance of affection for animals. In fact, the CEO found out first-hand how much joy it brings dog owners to lavish their pets with little gifts and treats at every turn after becoming the proud owner of two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Lily and Cody. Every square inch of this bow-wow boutique has been carefully planned with pampered pets and the people who love them in mind; from super chewy squeaky toys to cushy-comfy sleeping pods.

Check for Dog·E·Works at TPA in the Main Terminal 3rd Floor and at MCO in the Main Terminal A Side.
